I live in a small town and there is not a lot of opportunity to meet people. I met some new people tonight and had a great time. I enjoy this site too because I get to meet people here. Love making new friends! How do you meet new people and make friends?

Can't help here... I work/live weekdays in a small town too. I write softwate, so my life pretty much goes like this:
Loop:
Work
Gym
Bored
Goto Loop

Sounds a lot like mine - looking to make some changes

@HeraTera I wish I could say that....reason being, the job is really good

@HeraTera Best of luck and hope you may land in a great place (assuming that's what you meant) Have a nice Sunday !!!

I try not to. I keep to myself and keep my mouth shut as much as possible, and people still latch onto me occasionally. I end up "meeting people" in spite of myself.

I can't bear to imagine what it would be like if I actively tried to meet people...

There are times I also prefer my own company - but find it's not as much as I used to

Small towner here, too. Meeting new people and making friends can be difficult, especially here in the land of Jesus. I like to go places where people tend to share my interests. Libraries, museums, art galleries. Sometimes it involves some driving.

Just about everything here involves driving, which I don't mind but it does take time. Worth it if you make some good friends

I play in a band, so l spend a lot of time in bars. Being a very social environment it is easy to meet people.

I've never been to bars much. Have always thought it might be awkward going there alone. Is it social enough that people start talking to others that they don't know? Maybe I'm the one who needs to strike up the conversation

@HeraTera l understand it is more difficult for women than for men, especially in a bar. I live in a small town now and have noticed, at least in Wimberley, the people are very welcoming to newcomers. I saw a dating expert, whatever the Hell that is, on TV a few years ago, and she said something that made sense to me. She said to do the things you like to do and you are more likely to meet someone with shared interests. I know this is not much help, but it is all l have. I wish you the best. ☺

I typically don’t have the time, though I occasionally make a new friend on here.

I find it hard to meet new people. Not shy but socially awkward. Big groups I avoid. I am reactive not proactive.
It has never been easy for me.

I love small towns

I do too! They are charming and have a lot to offer. There are some things they can't offer though - and that's when I drive to bigger places. Prefer to live in a small town

I live in a small town but only a few miles from a bigger town.

I think it is more challenging as an adult. Are there vounteer opportunities or hobby/activity groups that you could join?

I did recently join a group of people for horseback riding - so hoping to make some friends there

I've lived in my town of I think 5,000 people for over 3 years now. I think I've actually met maybe ten people so far and only one that doesn't have a connection to my kids and he's a new coworker that I recently realized lives down the street from me.

A lot of the way I made my friends before was through my kids school activities or sports. Now that they are grown it's harder to meet people. Living here in the Bible Belt - the biggest social events that take place in small towns are in churches, so I meet most of my friends through work too. The problem for me is that work is quite a commute - so my coworkers all live about 50 miles away from where I do.

I'm not sure. It's why I'm here.
Here we can Get past the biggest hurdle, right off the bat.

Yes, that's something I've found. I like that about the online community sites

Now we need to get that community going outside of the web. @HeraTera
