Once again the old adage is proven true,
That the once persecuted invariably become the best at persecution
"Yeshiva University, a Jewish University in New York City, has announced it will "pause" all student groups after a US Supreme Court decision allowing an LGBTQ group on the university campus. YU Pride Alliance, an LGBTQ student group, sued the school in 2020 after it refused to recognize them officially. The university claims that the court case is "solely about YU's freedom to act according to its values without government interference." After the New York County Supreme Court ordered the group's approval, YU appealed the decision and got rejected. On August 29th, the university requested the US Supreme Court to intervene. The Supreme Court rejected the request on procedural grounds, stating that all avenues of appeal had not yet been exercised and that upon completion of said avenues, the university may return to the Supreme Court. In response, the university decided to suspend all student group activities while waiting for the legalities to play out. A lawyer on the student's side, Katie Rosenfeld, stated that the tactics adopted by the university are "a throwback to fifty years ago when the city of Jacksonville, Mississippi, closed all public swimming pools rather than comply with court orders to desegregate."
I read the in the latest FFRF newsletter. Some of the traditions of orthodox Jews are horrible. I'm surprised Christians aren't up in arms about this but religion is religion and not about just one sect.
Yes, Yeshiva University is doing all it can to gives Jews and Jewry a bad name.
No matter the religion, no matter how off the wall their beliefs there will always be an extreme right wing version who are willing to kill or die to prove their faith in the words written in a book by a slightly or completely crazy dead person who believed the voices in his head were telling them they were the most important person ever to tread the earth.
You need to look no further than the State of Israel to see the clearest example of persecuted becoming persecutor!
Sadly true
@LenHazell53 When was the state or country Israel persecuted?
@FrayedBear You are fucking kidding right?
@LenHazell53 I don’t think he is… There’s thick…and then there is the wilfully dense!!
@LenHazell53 seriously who & when was israel persecuted? They have abused their neighbours since inception of the country. They have committed countless crimes against Palestinians that are still occurring today that have not been prosecuted as far as I'm aware for any off them. They have been given so called positive discrimination for the horiffic persecution that their race suffered at the hands of the fascist nazis & their allies. The country of Israel has not been persecuted & as Marge states is a persecutor undertaking gross breaches of humanitarian law every bit as horrific as those the race previously suffered.
@LenHazell53, @Marionville When did the State of Israel become a race & when were they persecuted?
Who is joking & who is thick or wilfully dense vs who is seeking knowledge & clarification of seemingly incorrect statement or lack of knowledge?
@FrayedBear
"the State of Israel" and "Israel" are not the same thing, if you had said "the State of Israel" it would have been clear what your meaning is, I am no fan of the modern state of Israel and the behaviour of their nationalist leaders, but to say Israel has never been persecuted is fucking obscene
The Polish Pogroms, the British Jew burning towers, the holocaust, the Russian pogroms, the ghettos and that is just in the last few centuries, without even get in to the Babylonia , Philistine, Antiochian and other attempted extirpations by the various inquisitions.
Come on man you are better than this.
@LenHazell53 thank for correcting my ignorance Len. I will correct my initial comment.
@LenHazell53according to the Australian Collins Concise dictionary 5th ed. :
@LenHazell53 I was in no mood to get into another word tussle with FB. I’m sure he knew full well what I was alluding to when I wrote the above lines. My life is happier when I don’t engage with him…so I chose to ignore his remarks. I’ve been doing that since he started posting RT links and spouting Putin propaganda. Last night I had a long exhausting exchange with another antipodean member who is of a similar mindset to him, and couldn’t face bandying words again this morning. He seems to have taken your rebuttal much better than he’d have done to anything I may have have added…so thanks.
They keep pushing others agenda toward them from over 70+ years and hope we ignore their agenda of today. To me this says they have not learned an important lesson. BTW, many cultural Jews agree with this.
