When someone's mind is said to be corrupted or indoctrinated with bad information: why is it called brainwashing? Shouldn't brain washing imply that the corruption, illogicalness and filth is being cleaned from someone's mind?
I think that it came from an early cold war myth, that there was a method in use, which did indeed involve emptying the brain of memories first, and then putting new ones back. We now know that is not possible of course, ( Because you die, among other things. ) but we are talking about a myth from the nineteen forties and fifties, and given the state of progress, that in medical terms, was only just out of the Stone Age compared to today.
It depends on what you wash the brain with.
