I chose this quote from Robertson Davies (Canadian author) to clarify my belief: "The real skeptic lives in a constant atmosphere of carefully balanced dubiety about everything; he will not accept that there are satisfactory grounds for acquiescence in any statement or proposition whatever. Of course, if some fool tells him that it is a fine day he will probably nod because he hasn't time to haggle with the fool over what he means by a word like fine. But in all important issues he reserves his judgement." (The Rebel Angels)....This tends to make me somewhat unpopular with certain people. When someone asks me rhetorically, "How are you doing" I usually tell them, and am usually ignored.

Read a bunch of Robertson Davies back in the day, but it's been a while. Really enjoyed him.

This was from the Cornish Trilogy. I had read the Salterton Trilogy many years ago and only read this one last year (I'm 71). I shouldn't have waited so long. It was even better. BTW You look a bit like him! Thanks, and get the books, especially "Rebels".

@fishline79 Already read those, but thanks.

@tnorman1236 Did you ever hear the song "My Baby Loves a Bunch of Authors" by the Canadian group Moxie Fruvous? Great song. They are out of favor due to some sex-abuse scandal. Who isn't these days?

@fishline79 Never heard the song, but it sounds like it could be a good one.

@fishline79 That's great! There are some people I need to send this to!

@tnorman1236 They made one great album (Bargainville) before the shit hit the fan about the lead singer"s alleged perfidy. Sad! (as Donald would Tweet) .........davidfishel.net
