The National Correspondent's Dinner was very disappointing for me. Michelle Wolf, the key speaker told one foul joke after another. Many were in very poor taste and made me feel uncomfortable. I think this was a lost opportunity to help the image of journalism community. Just saying.

I actually found it quite funny. It is only one night, once a year. Compared to all the lies, misdirections, open insults from 45 and his pundits the rest of the year, it felt just right. The absurdity of the attendance compared to the previous years made it that this year the most senior cabinet figure to attend was Sandra H. Sanders and Kellyanne Conway. 45 is a bully that cannot take criticism. The language and jokes are only a sign of the times.

She made me laugh. I found it funny. The funniest part is how the right can't laugh at itself.
They've no sense of self-silliness. They can't laugh at much.

I thought her jabs were well targeted and earned.

I respectfully disagree, compared to the BS we hear from Trump and his cronies? This is a breath of fresh air.

I laughed my ass of at it. Thought she was pretty on point on most everything she said.

She was awesome!

Trump is the one who debased our political discourse. Mr I wanted to fuck her, I moved on her like a bitch, I just start kissing them, and I can get away with having concurrent affair with a porn star and a playmate. Telling the UN that he will totally destroy N. Korea, pulling out of the Paris accord and so on and so on.

Trump is very disappointing to me. He makes one foul joke after another at people who cannot fight back. HIs policies hurt his supporters who believe the lies of his administration. His very poor taste and vulgarity make me feel uncomfortable. I wonder where we are as a country when a clearly incompetent person can win the White House against a totally qualified person. Just saying.

Most would disagree with your review.

I think a lot of these people don't realize it is been like this since I can remember, it's a Roasting event to raise money for scholarships. Being nasty and putting down Pols. is the show. That's why Trump won't go, he knows he'd be burned to a crisp, he can't take a joke about himself.

In order to participate in this, one has to be self depricating and quick witted. Donald Trump can be neither of these things and he knows it, that's why he is too cowardly to participate.

Michelle Wolf was great. Republicans got what they deserved.

I thought she did an outstanding job! Her jokes were spot-on, and firmly rooted in the TRUTH..
Anyone who had a problem with her routine is an abject hypocrite.
45, and his minions, have ALL said, and done, FAR WORSE.
Wolf did roughly 19 minutes. The entire dinner was approximately 4 hours.
Journalism is just fine. Unless, of course, you consider Fox "News" to be journalism.

Michelle Wolfe made you feel uncomfortable. Oh, I am sooo sorry for you. You poor baby. Why don't we have a person stand up there at the dinner and roast Donald Trump using his own verifiable words complete with lies and contradictions and we can see how that one goes over. If he was a man, and a popular one, I'll bet it would be OK.

"Michelle Wolf made attendees at the White House Correspondents Dinner uncomfortable. They deserve to be." [nbcnews.com]

Yet people are still with Trump being president. Epidomy of hypocrisy. "It was just locker room talk."

Based just on the clips I saw: I would have enjoyed this if it were a stand-up routine in a club or a cable tv special. I don't know how the corresondents dinner became a roast, but I wish it were a celebration of journalism and the important work journalists do. The Hannities, Limbaughs and Breitbarts of the world have taken over and journalists are the ones saving us. This felt like stooping to their level, and I didn't like it.

I read about the “outrage” this morning and hoped for some zingers. However I was disappointed to see that it was a bunch of tired low-brow insults that brought back memories of high school.

It bordered on funny every so often. I found myself feeling embarrassed for the comedian because of how poorly her jokes were going over. But, it wasn't a shock, the content was so caustic that it was actually hard to listen to. Even though I disdain her main targets as much as one could, it was just hitting too low. What was it when that one former Presidents wife said about when they swing low.... It wasn't funny, it was just cruel to the extreme. There is ample material, more than ever, to make fun of and not put it in the gutter. I look forward to this event every year. This was a disappointment. I would have been much better if DT would have shown up. Sissy.

have you ever seen her routine before? She was true to her type of humour. If, repeat if, someone thought she was too hard they should never have hired her in particular but they knew exactly who they were hiring.

Totally agree! Thanks for showing me I’m not totally crazy!

I hate when a keynote speaker makes me wonder if I've wasted my time by attending the event. (Crocheting, sketching or writing get me through many awkward moments, just so you know.)

My comment had nothing to do with Trump and his corrupt and inept administration. As far as I’m concerned they were all fair game for being attacked by satire and other humor. It had to do with the juvenile crude words used by Michele Wolf. And if you believe that sinking to Trump’s pathetically low level is okay, I respectfully disagree. We can and should do better!

this is a good follow-up on the WHCD

A friend posted a link to it on Facebook, I only made it a few minutes into it before I bailed.

gater Level 7 Apr 29, 2018

She didn’t insult a single “good” American.

"GOOD"americans?Oh p;ease. If he has drained the swamp, these people must be mud dwellers

I didn't watch it because of how nice they all were. Fuck the Establishment and their voters. Those people don't care and don't want to care. Just gross. I run them out everywhere I see them. Shouldn't have to share space with my murders.
