I don’t do beans besides green and yellow string beans.
Are you vegetarian?
No, but I don't eat red meat, and very little poultry or fish. Lots of veggies and fruit.
@Organist1 Long ago I realised that although meat eaters profess to love meat, it is noticeable that they very rarely eat by itself. They love to cover it with something else.
I am no cook but a diet without meat but with cheese suits me fine.
@Organist1 Make one item without meat and people assume you are one of those horrible vegetarians.
@JackPedigo I am trying to eat less meat, but fish and skinless poultry are still on the menu sometimes.
@Organist1 Sometimes the best way to changing a diet is slow and at one's own pace.
@JackPedigo I haven't eaten red meat in 51 years, but giving up rotisserie chicken is hard! My doctor told me to, so I don’t have a choice.
@Organist1 Aren't there some plant based alternatives on the market? [theveganatlas.com]
@JackPedigo Yes, and some, like Impossible Meat, have just as much, if not more, saturated fat than meat. On the other hand, Dr. Praeger burgers, and Chick'n have far less. It pays to read labels. There are some good vegan choices out there, and I have tried many.
@Organist1 Maybe an advantage I have is a not strong sense of taste. Some of the finer qualities of a food item are just not there for me. In German the term, feinsmecker (fine taster) may actually be a hindrance for some to change their diets.
@Organist1 I object to the non meat alternatives to trying to look and taste like meat.
@rogerbenham Just out of curiosity, just where do you draw the line visually?
