The senate was placed in charge of the money to fund the army ad protect the empire
The senate disbanded the army and replaced it with their private militias, pocketing the money for themselves
The people demanded an investigation in to the senate
The senate made made questioning the senate illegal
The people turned to the army for protection but it was no longer there
The enemies of Rome threatened invasion, the new army demanded better weapons and Armour, the senate said no, Rome fell but not before the senate declared themselves the church of Rome, took the money and ran.
