I recommend, a three speed hand drill with a three jaw chuck, and a one tenth inch clean cut flange ended wood bit, with the dill set to the lowest speed and torque settings. Use a piece of hardwood not softwood as a base when making the cut.

This usually results in a nice neat clean hole in the belt.

They apparently don’t sell sweat pants 👖 in the UK….🤠
