In the pursuit of happiness, the hard part is knowing when you've caught up.
A late friend of mine defined happiness as those moments of relief in life when the misery is more bearable than it has been.
"Happiness isn't getting what you want. It's wanting what you have."
its easier than that. happiness is when your happy
That’s why happiness is a continuous journey.
Really, why?
I don't know Leigh, I am surprised as I know very well when i am happy, and when I am pissed off angry sad tired etc I think if we didnt have a range of emotions we would indeed be in the soup.
@jacpod " It has been said that happiness is not an emotion but a state of being." Emotions are transitory.
@jacpod it would be very boring that's for sure.
@dare2dream thats the same as any emotion but still doesnt explain what you mean. im often happy when i get something i want, like 100%.
@LeighShelton : I think we are using different definitions of the word happy. It can be used to mean an emotion - which is transitory. It can also be used as a state of being such as contentment - which is a state of being.
I feel joy at times but it goes away. There are some ways in which I am content. That has more meaning because it is not as transitory.
@dare2dream very true but happy does partly mean getting what you want like the love of your life which is contentment or the item say on a birthday that makes you happy for a little while.
