Religion has never won an argument with Atheism and science.

Religions like governments always lie!!!
He brings up some good points, however, i'm not sure about the "there are more denominations of christianity than there are sentences in the bible." if there are, can someone list about 50 of them for me?
Another 'end-game argument' christianitians likes to use is "god created the science you believe in."
, which is a typical circular argument that really doesn't go anywhere but is entertaining in the same way a dog chases it's tail.
Mac, pick any 50 nondenominational or evangelical churches and you have your 50 different denominations. A more accurate estimate of the number of denominations is somewhere between 20,000 and 50,000. Because of sola scriptura, modern “Christians” are barely Christian and they don’t even know the history of their faith and they certainly do not believe or practice what the apostles taught.
If we said E=MC2 was anything we wanted it to mean we’d be just like modern Christians. We could decide that the speed of light was 2mph or 22,000 mph. We could also decide that the molecular weight of hydrogen is 42. Essentially sola scripture is why “Christians” don’t agree with one another.
Theist have failed to prove their god is real without the bible.
I find funny the Christians who wear a lab coat and talk about the Bible. Or stand beside a tree and talk about the natural environment.
I agree. But this guy should take a chill pill and relax a bit. People are lied to from an early age. Damaged people act in different ways.
An atheist bashing a theist yields the same results as a theist bashing an atheist.
Education along with understanding and compassion could go a long way to helping us overcome the lies we’ve been told.
Religion is the ancestor of science.
I agree with your first two but no, sorry I disagree, with the last. Philosophy is the ancestor of science, and philosophy was created to address the failing of what can be called, received folly, A.K.A. religion, when it was obvious that it no longer did its job. Had religion not failed, then the ancients would never have created philosophy, because there would have been no need, and then natural philosophy, (the old name for science) would not have been born either.
Speaking the TRUTH is not bashing.
@Fernapple I can agree that philosophy spawned science. But I think (not certain but think) early man observed, hypothesized and then made up the creation story. Thus religion was the first attempt at science. But I also don’t have a problem with reconsidering and acknowledging philosophy as part of the discussion. We want answers and we are just learning how to ask the right questions.
I don’t want to disagree with the speaker in the video. But I try to view religious zealots as having limited mental abilities. As such, it is best to try to gently point them in the right direction. They can’t be reasoned with mostly because they are afraid but also because they lack the capacity to understand. I prefer to treat people with kindness, even when others are not kind.
One thing the speaker did not mention when he talked about data and science is that data can be inaccurate, data can be misinterpreted and data can be insufficient. The result would lead to “bad” science. But “bad” science is waaaay better than good religion every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
I get your point here. As a young teen I was mad my family was pushing this on me. When I was a few years older I realized they were just passing on the stuff they'd been taught. I kind of felt bad for them as I realized they'd just never really looked into it enough to realize it was false. They sadly thought they were helping me but were just mistaken.
