Trump deserves Nobel for role in talks with North, South Korea's leader says
[cnn.com]
I agree - Trump has done what no other president could
The North and South were talking before Trump was even elected. Trump is just in the right place at the right time. If it happens, it would have happened with or without him.
I think Trump is mor elikely to fuck it up than he is likely to help it along.
If what you are saying is true then why did president Moon say he felt that Trump should get the Nobel? You clearly aren't aware of the sanctions Trump placed on NK.
@gater Moon said that because, if you just flatter Trump he will go along with what you want. just stroke Trump's ego and he likes you. It is often commented on in international news stories.
As far as th sanctions go... how much business do you really think the U.S. does with N. Korea, that they woudl have much real effect on them?
"Only Nixon could go to China."
Bully for Nixon, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a "crook". It doesn't mean he wasn't an asshole. It doesn't mean he was a good president.
I ly HOPE Trump succeeds, but I highly doubt it.
I think he is being played for the fool he is. Going to meet with Kim is allowing Kim to appear powerful to his own people. He's flexed his muscles and now the President of the world's gest and baddest superpower is "bowing" to his will. He is getting the message that having nukes makes him "" and important. Trump is rewarding him for it. After calling him names (about the only trick in Trump's play book) and getting into a dick measuring contest with the guy (actually tweeting that he has a "ger button". Really! Trump did that!) does anyone believe Kim is going to be straight up with Trump? I think Kim has learned from the example of others, that heaping praise on Donald Trump, makes him putty in one's hand. And Trump, who claims to be the best negotiator the world has ever seen, is an ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE negotiator! He's like a toddler, always throwing temper tantrums. He breaks his agreements and contracts, he refuses to pay his debts. He keeps saying lots of lawyers would LOVE to represent him, but there sure seems to be no one standing in line. That is probably due to his history of not paying his bills. It may also have something to do with how of a shithole Trump is in. Perhaps they don't think his case can be won. His name cannot be cleared (because he keeps broadcasting his own guilt, like "I was already going to fire him [Comey] even without the recommendation. I said to myself, 'You know, this Trump and Russia g? There is no Trump and Russia.....'..." (I might have not got his words exactly right, but you know what he said to Lestor Hultz. as well as I do.). He SAID, right out loud, that he fired Comey because of the Russia investigation. That is obstruction of justice right there! He's guilty, folks! And in the campaign, he spoke directly to Russia, and requested they try to hack American state secrets in order to benefit his campaign. He offered a promise of reward ("....I think our press will reward you mightily." ) Um, isn't that a quid pro quo? He colluded with Russia right in front of everyone's nose! How can we possibly need any more proof? Would you represent someone like that? I wouldn't!
Trump is a train wreck! To put it more eloquently, he is a Trumpster Fire. (I didn't make that up. It may even be trademarked.)
When Obama won a Nobel Peace Prize (2009) every one said he did not deserve it, because he had barely started his presidency, and had not done anything to deserve it yet. And ya'll are talking about awarding the prize to Trump because.... why now? He has not done anything yet. All the work was done by South Korea! Without them, Trump would never have been offered a seat at the table. All Trump has done is say "Yes, I'll go." Obama was hammered by Hillary in the 08 debates for suggesting he might meet with North Korea without "pre-condition." He got SCHOOLED! (But he still beat her in the primary, so maybe it was not such a scandalous thing to say after all.)
So, the point here is: Don't jump the gun! "Mr. Button" hasn't earned any praise yet, much less a Nobel! Let's all pray that, despite the odds against it, Trump pulls off a treaty and a denuclearization of North Korea. (Oh, right.... This is group of people that don't believe in prayer. LOL) When he actually accomplishes something good, THEN we can talk about it.....
Actually, the Nobel was suggested by the South Korean President. - Apparently you aren't aware of the sanctions Trump placed on NK - they are working.
Bah! The South Korean president is just kissing Trump's ass, because that is how to motivate Trump to be on your "side."
So Trump knows how to make sanctions work, huh? So why did he refuse to use them on Russia? Maybe because they helped him win the election? And, of course, helping Trump is helping America, right?
(BTW, I noticed that in my comment above I referred to Trump as "Mr. Button" I meant to refer to him as "Mr. Bigger Button" ijs)
I really DON'T know of any effective sanctions that Trump put on North Korea. Previously, sanctions have not worked, for past administrations, because China did not participate. Did not enforce the sanctions. Thus, enabling North Korea to continue to trade and continue to build up a nuclear program. Did the same guy who casually started a trade war with China somehow convince them to have our back? I find that kinda hard to swallow. Did Russia help bring China around?
It has also been alleged, by some, that North Korea only got nukes to begin with because Russia secretly "helped" them. And why not? North Korea isn't a threat to THEM, but it really makes the US weaker and more threatened. If that theory is true, how can we know if all of this was not Putin's plan, to strengthen Trump's political stature in the world? It is certainly in his interest to keep Trump around for a second term (or more.)
Am I cynical? You better believe I am! Putin is a very smart guy (unlike OUR head of state) and he has a Machiavellian power over much of the world, not the least of which over US! (I mean the USA. I don't know if you're American or not.) And Trump is clearly Putin's little (I want to use a mild curse word, but instead, I am going to censor myself) He is clearly Putin's little lapdog.
If he did not "collude" with Russia, in the campaign (but he DID) he sure as heck is colluding NOW!
"What's wrong with us getting along with Russia?" he asks. (And then later says "No one has ever been as tough on Russia as Donald J Trump." HA!) I'll tell you what is wrong with us getting along with Russia! Russia is systematically dismantling our alliances around the world. NATO, which has historically held back Russian aggression? Trump has weakened our support of NATO, thereby weakening ALL of NATO. The EU? Yep, he's got them determined to protect themselves, without our help, since we clearly are not committed to back them up. (Brexit is a devastating blow to the EU. How do we know Russia did not influence that vote, or even hack the vote to sway it in their favor?) They tried that here! And who KNOWS to what degree they succeeded.... I am NOT a conspiracy theorist..... Just a cynic who pays attention. (Although, I apparently missed Trump's heroic new sanctions on North Korea, huh?)
Darn it! I got started on another rant..... .
