Ringing the wrong door bell Shoot the bastard!
Pulling in to the wrong driveway. Shoot the bastard!
How has such a sick mentality developed?

By law, Missouri citizens have the right to use force if they "reasonably" fear that they are in danger.
Perhaps the definition of 'force' should also have the qualifying word 'reasonable' for a start.

Perhaps it's because, deep down, many people like to "play cowboy?" "Bang, bang...you're dead."

And when you empty all your clips into a corpse, that's a reasonable and justified response...

Ya wanna buy a gun? Pass a mental fitness exam!

Ya wanna keep a gun for another year? Have a clean record and pass an annual mental fitness exam!

And I’m a life member of the NRA . . .and a Democrat.

Precisely. The term "well regulated" springs to mind.

This mentality was crafted during Quatrell's advance to stop KS from becoming a slave-free state. They hate Northerners in MO and that's evident by the fact of MO's rebellious faction. Folks like Twain and Truman, for instance. They didn't like Harry back home but I recommend his Library. Sadly, one has to be in MO to see it.

Like I needed another reason to NOT go to Missouri! My ex husband's family is from Missouri and I feel like I've done my time in that state.
