A woke mind virus, talk Elon Musk with Bill Mahar.
The definition alone reveals the very reason why fascists and racists are repelled and upset by this simple term.
"Woke is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) meaning "alert to racial prejudice and discrimination". Beginning in the 2010s, it came to encompass a broader awareness of social inequalities, such as sexism, and has also been used as shorthand for American Left ideas involving identity politics and social justice, such as the notion of white privilege and slavery reparations for African Americans."
"The phrase stay woke has history in AAVE as far back as the 1930s, in some contexts referring to an awareness of the social and political issues affecting African Americans. The phrase was uttered in lyrics of recordings by Lead Belly in mid 20th century and post-millennium by Erykah Badu."
"The term emerged in the 2010s, and, increasingly, it meant not only racial consciousness but also that of gender, as well as other discriminated identities, originally in the American context." - Wikipedia
Republicans used to all be "woke" and then they turned this around to use it against all of the rest of us. I was once told that Trump followers were "woke" but I am not.
It was a black thing, then, largely hijacked by leftists women too busy complaining, and unable to have a reasonable talks. The real work is not getting done.
The best book I've ever read on this subject is "How Woke Won: The Elitist Movement That Threatens Democracy, Tolerance and Reason" by Joanna Williams. She describes the background and "evolution" of this mind virus
Sounds like an interesting book. Woke some how has mutated so far from its original meaning. These ideas: critical race theory (CRT), Black Lives Matter (BLM), cancel culture, identity politics and intersectional victimhood. The idea of cultural appropriation. I am planning on it going away from our immune system of my mind and body, like other extreme alarm viruses. It's sure a pain in the ass having an open mind discussion about it with a few people I know.
