I’m wondering if anyone else can point to a specific event or catalyst that ended your faith. Mine was due to my Uncle whom I respected greatly. After he had already switched to Episcopalian from Church of Christ, he moved to England. There, he and my Aunt got into witchcraft. This was confusing and traumatic for a teenage me. In an attempt to understand, I began researching religious history, comparative religion, and religious fallacies. Exposure to alternative ideas was what I needed, and the spell was broken quickly. I was the first proclaimed atheist in my family. Flash forward 25 years and everyone else in the family has caught up to me.
For decades I believed I was the only Atheist in my family and I kept quiet about it until both parents were gone. Then I learned only one person in my immediate family proclaims to be a Christian and thats my baby brother. He does not go to Church and does not even own a Bible! The rest of us are all heathens!
I had experiences with meme organism. At the time of leaving christianity I was not familiar with meme terminology as coined by illogical atheist and brilliant biologist Richard Dawkins.
I spent years after leaving christianity to figure out how to explain my experiences. I eventually come across meme information and everything instantly clicked.
I have discussion group here explaining evolution of Jesus style meme God organism that evolved to mimic homo sapien form.
My parents got me into religion around the age of 12 or 13. This was because they were confused on just what happened to my sister who never made it home from the hospital after birth. Where was Debbie? Before that the bible was just stories. I'm the type of person who has to know everything, so soon I began studying for the ministry. I'm also researching anything supernatural. Religious history, other religions, and religious fallacies came into play as well. My journey took a few years but I learned that we do not know everything. Logic and evidence mean everything. All religions are a fallacy.
