Evidently Facebook has adopted a new policy that if you offend somebody's religion they suspend your account for an hour.
Today I simply responded to a Meme that said "God is" with "not real." Got an hour suspension.
Yesterday, I forget exactly what the Meme said, but my response was that "Mohammad heard voices which he thought was god, but was more likely schizophrenia. In ancient times the mentally ill were said to have been touched by the god(s)." and I got an hour suspension for that one. (In this case I could see that an algeythmn might manage to flag it without an actual person having to report it, but i don't think they'd bother.)
Personally, I think Facebook has teken their policies too far. Perhaps we atheists should start reporting religious posts as offensive to our atheism. You know when they try to shove their religious beliefs down our throats.
I am going to be so screwed somedays I can just not resist from poking the bear.
My latest effort was in someone saying the bible gave us our laws to live by and I asked them if they had actually read them. Asked why it was okay for a rapist to pay the father of the woman/child he raped so that he could marry them and not be guilty of rape. Have not heard anything back yet.....
Try using the Jewish spelling of God G_d and see if face book is kosher with it.
Stupid is as stupid does & believes.
The religious should ask "why is my god not unselfish?"
An unselfish god would not demand blind unquestioning fealty at the cost of slaughtering non believers.
Why are you still on Facebook?
Delete FB and twitter / X. Nothing good comes from them.
If you need to connect to others, maybe try texting or calling *IMHO, of course.
I have friends on 4 continents and cannot be calling them.
@KateOahu
There is always email, then.
@AtheistInNC Not the same.
@KateOahu Email and fb are not the same? I guess email has a heck of a lot less advertising ... but both are electronic letters on the screen, both are relatively instantaneous, both can take photos and videos. What is the difference that would make fb worth keeping?
@AtheistInNC Why do you care what I prefer?
It's not that I care what you prefer; I try to get everyone to jettison twitter, facebook, instagram or the like if I know they are using them.
It's been proven that they are bad for our society and they sell your data for their profit. You are the product, and you get none of the benefits (other than emailing people on four continents surrounded by ads of products they think you will buy).
You would be doing yourself a favor and most likely be happier and have more time, by closing your accounts ... in my humble opinion, of course.
@AtheistInNC EVERY APP does that. I limit using APPs for that reason. But, they can sell my data if they want, because not only do I not respond to ads, I no longer even notice them, so they are just wasting resources on me.
The belief of someone into one or another religion ist not the problem, but if these people start to fight others who don't share their belief, then we must get this settled ...clearly....but true is also, that skeptical people are less accepted in public areas since corona was sent to all of us...it has changed dramatically humanity's attitude in all aspects you may think of...
