One of my favourite lines in a film comes from the film 'Tuck Everlasting', which despite being made for children is quite profound in its themes.

One theme is living forever, and if we would really want to if we had the choice. At the end of the film a heartbroken Tuck ponders...

"Do not fear death, but rather the unlived life... You don't have to live forever. You just have to live".

It’s a bit late in the evening to weigh such ponderous themes. In any event, the idea discussed in your post seems to be correct. Death, as Sam Harris said a while back, seems to be perfectly safe. No one has complained that it hurts too much.

I remember watching the movie with my kids. I cannot imagine how lonely one would be and how sad when you keep outliving all your loved ones. Part of what makes life precious is that it doesn't last forever. It isn't the length of life, it is the quality and how much you love.
