For some unknown reasons many members of this site are unable to use the messaging feature. Some can receive and not send. @clffrdrn I received your message, I am one of those unable to respond. So for all members, we have no contact with @Admin, it has been this way for months. For those more savvy than I am, on my messaging page it tells me socket status and mine is off, I'm not sure if that is pertinent or not.
The messaging failure may have something to do with your web browser settings. Or, if you're using the app on your phone try using the web interface instead.
I always use a web browser. I use Google Chrome, what do I need to change?
@HippieChick58 I use an iPad with Safari browser online, not the APP, and cannot message or respond to others.
You are referencing "Admin" as if he's real, haha. From what I can tell, he is just imaginary, like God. Though somehow, by some miracle, the security of the site did get renewed, so maybe there IS a god! He's just not answering our prayers at the moment.
Messaging was nice for personal questions and conversations, without having the conversation posted publicly for all to see. Wonder what the solution is?
I have received a few messages, but when I go to the effort to reply, it's all for naught, as it evaporates into the ether, no record on my end anyway that shows I reply, and I assume the intended recipient never receives the reply either.
The few personal interactions I've had have come after a member finds me on Facebook and messages me there. I really loved it when my Agnostic dot com and Facebook lives were separate, but I might have to merge them. We may end up having to give into the larger corporations who can assist us while there are technical difficulties on this site.
Curious if it's just the more "liberal" members are being punished, while those more "conservative" members who slid over to the "slug" side of things might still have our previously enjoyed benefits?
Mine says socket status is on but "no connection"
Me too - for several months.
Messaging stopped functioning properly for me way before the site stopped working. Since it's been back up the messaging continues to be useless.
That's a good suggestion. I just flipped the socket switch on my Messenger page, but it doesn't seem to have changed the way my messages go out. I still receive incoming messages (at least some of them). I've left a message on my profile letting people know that I'm unable to respond.
"Socket status?" What IS that?
@pamagain Open your messaging. At the bottom you'll see a switch to toggle the socket status on or off. I turned mine on, but it didn't fix the problem
@TheoryNumber3 Thanks for the help....it's already "ON"....so much for that idea.
