Ravages of aging:

My hair has thinned out but it is still thicker than that of most people. It was outrageously thick when I was younger, and my hairdressers told me that I could lose half my hair and then, have a "normal" head of hair. It has also changed texture--it used to be coarse, but is now much finer. I am good with the hair.

However, let's talk talk eyebrows.

Hair loss applies to eyebrows, as well, and I have noticed that mine are subject to this loss. They are not was wide as they used to be, or as thick. I looked up thinning eyebrows online and yup, age is one of the prime causes.

My dear deceased sister had thin eyebrows and would pencil them to make them more visible. I find that I don't care a hoot about my eyebrows. If all of the hair falls out, oh, well. I am good about that, too.

On the other hand, age also increases facial hair on women due to a loss of estrogen (but the same loss of estrogen is what makes our hair thin--go figure). I could do without those four whiskers on my chin which I consistently tweeze out.

Ah, the concerns of a healthy old person . . . At least I am not yet battling health issues.

this aging thing is an endless line of items.

Being a male type person, and a shiny top, I have not noticed the eyebrows thinning with age as well. Quite the opposite. I now have to trim the bushy things to stop them getting in my eyes, which I never had to do in youth.

My hair is just long enough to tickle my ring, in the shower. But, it's so thin. I've started dyeing sections bright purple or electric blue. Nobody notices how thin my hair is. Distraction tactics!

I still dye my hair at age 77 but you have to know how to do this. The trick is to only leave the dye in for 15 minutes. This way you avoid a thick color and still have some grey. The hair looks more natural.

🤣 Natural is not the required outcome. It is distraction from what's natural.

I sympathize about the hair situation. My cholesterol meds compounded it too. I still have a good head of hair, but it has thinned and become finer. One thing I did discover, with the help of my dermatologist: I had a vitamin D deficiency, which accelerated the hair loss. Once that was corrected, my hair got a bit better.

I hear ya on the chin hairs, I tweeze frequently.

Yup, same here.

I, inevitably, look at these issues from a man's point of view. Why do leg hair and armpit hair diminish as ear hair and nose hair increase? Why does hair on one part of the body go grey at a different rate from that on another part? There's a Nobel Prize waiting for someone!
