I thought Ireland was inclusive progressive country now that the power of the RC church is waning but maybe not. Poor girl .

Maybe some people in Ireland think that it should stay like this, and this symbolic omission is meant to say: You may be here, but you don't belong here.

I watched a video of the medal giving and the woman handing out the medals gave one to the girls on either side of the black girl and just walked past her. I presume she must have been instructed to do this. I don't think it was a case of the winners only being given medals because every other girl got one. The poor girl kept a big smile on her face but it must have been hurtful and humiliating.
Ireland has a sizeable black minority . around 1.4 % as opposed to Englands 4%. I think France has a slightly higher percentage.
Unfortunately a world wide issue. A Human issue.
