A friend sent me this. He is not a Christian and he says he's not a Jew, but he uses the King James Bible and is quite religious. I was not surprised it came from Prager U, he makes some very divisive and extreme videos. Thoughts???
I don't know, what breed is the dog? Some of those can be, 'worth' quite a lot. Really? They'd probably be trying to save each other anyway, so I'd toss a rope to the human and they could get the dog out too. I have issues with the words worth and value when applied to living things; I cannot connect them. I see worth and value as something inanimate objects have. Life is life, none more so than other, just different forms.
If this guy and my dog were drowning, I'd probably push his head under as I saved my dog

All things on this planet that holds life has its place in what is called planet Earth.
I bet this Dennis bloke would have a totally different outlook on this if he was a horse.
Sorry, when you've said the man is very religious, It was enough for me not to watch it. I have found it to be pointless to discuss religion with people who are deaf and blind. Good old H.L Mencken, (1880 - 1956), had said it well, "morality is doing right, no matter what you are told. Religion is doing what you are told, no matter what is right"....There is a remote possibility that religion may not have come about with the idea of controlling those who adhere to it, but in very short time it became apparent that it is an excellent tool to do just that.
As for the question, "Are humans more valuable than animals ?" Why just animals and not every other organism?... Life is precious for all living things and if all the living things could be asked the same question and could understand it, the answer would be that each one is more valuable than anybody else. But because we humans are arrogant, on top of the food chain and have the capability of thought, we think we are more valuable.
My thoughts exactly! I should have included my response to him.
I think he's pretty consistent with the conservative base: he look as if he should be rational and reasonable but he's straightforward arguments become convulated and it's hard for me to follow his reasoning. I guess it's my bias...?
They know their dog and they do not know a stranger. Sorry. That's where I stopped the video. BTW, Dennis Prager is a right wing Communist. Oh, sorry. I didn't say that right. Columnist.
I know he is, his Prager U is getting to be very popular, over a billion watchers. Scary stuff being pushed on young adults.
I watched about half a minute. I'm not wasting my life watching stuff like this.
Why is this on an agnostic/atheist site?
I didn't watch the whole thing either. But things like this make me look for the logical fallacies and think of rational rebuttals.
Yes, dare2dream that's why I posted it. Prager U is very popular and being heavily pushed by right wing religious groups especially all the ones they are talking out of going to real colleges. Scary stuff.
"The god-based Judeo-Christian value system renders humans more valuable that any humanistic system." Yet the bible demands death to many persons for many reasons! Humanists don't believe those demands and are more compassionate.
True, they put other countries natural resources above our soldiers everyday. Thieves!
