As many pointed tried to point out in 2001 and since, militaries historically are spectacularly ineffective at fighting terrorists. A lesson America still hasn't learned ... and neither has Israel apparently.
Pentagon proclaims failure as America’s 'forever wars' yield 75,000% increase in terror attacks:

Israel has already notched a number of military technology accomplishments. They have developed innovations in past wars, so they are on track. That is a big part of their economy. Perhaps they are seeding their own commercial future? Just as Hamas is a proxy for Iran, Israel is a proxy for the US, although this time, US 'advisors' may observe up-close... A multitude of robot types may well get tested in the tunnels of Hamas. Sounds like a promising video game...
That would be the Hamas version...
2001 what happened then?
Rip up the Patriot Act, which means all o/s garrisons and acts of war have to be approved by Congress first. That is how the US Constitution is set up. Less military adventures means less people pissed off being bombed means less breeding ground for terrorist ideology.
No Patriot Act also means none of the spook alphabet agencies that spy on domestic population created since 2001.
