That does not explain why all transponders were disabled. For me, this has USA written all over it. I say this because of the reaction afterwards eg the US seemed largely uninterested in finding the cause, something they would normally be all over. The same applies to Nord Stream eg if unaware of an attack on German energy supplies, a fellow NATO member, they would have been all over it. Instead, a severe lack of interest.

Also agreeing with you, if there is footage of a burning plane going down, they would know a precise area of where to look for wreckage and would have found it already. Plenty of radar coverage in that area, military radar in Singapore and Philippines. Big Australian base in Malaysia ie radar. But no-one knows where it went funnily enough.
