It isn't easy for young people to leave religions. For me the mist difficult part was the loss of belonging to a community, even if that community wasn't completely in touch with reality.
After leaving the (Mormon) church, I realized that they had organized most of my social activities for me, and it was not easy for an introvert like myself to socialize and make friends all on my own. Church members automatically are friends to other members. Once you leave, you find that making friends on your own isn't so easy.
