I have standing orders set up for all of my regular bills, they come out on pay days and are effectively gone, what is left covers food and entertainments and what is left goes in to savings.
There is no temptation to put off a bill, or underpay.
I have no credit cards and if I cannot afford something I do not buy it.

That can be a good strategy when first working out a budget until monthly habits are set.

I've got an envelope where I keep my cash tips... I dip into it each week for tipping musicians and food servers when I go out. Not sure it saves me money, but having cash always handy helps me to be generous to others! I'm naturally pretty frugal otherwise.

My money saving strategy is to not buy stuff I don't need, and I use cards when it makes sense to, but I spend my cash on live music and entertainment in my community, as I feel strongly that's what is keeping my mental health where it is and not needing costly therapy!
