That ship sailed long ago, after our SC legalized bribery, with the decisions that made money political protected speech. Ever since then, nobody could get elected to federal office, without first selling their soul in exchange for the campaign money needed to win. With a few token exceptions, like Bernie, Paul Wellstone, and Barbara Lee, none of whom ever rose to gain any real power in DC, so they are just token show horses, to fool the voters into thinking we still have any real democracy, instead of a plutocracy.. Merely symbolic..
