Agree, however “honour killings” seem to be a cultural thing linked to Islamic religion, in particular from conservative communities of Pakastani origin.

Sadly this type of crime occurs frequently in the UK and is often reported in media there.

I’d be really doubtful about any so called repentance by the perpetrators, just emotional manipulation in an attempt to reduce the sentence.

Hopefully the Oz court will impose a suitable sentence. There’s the option for deportation for serious crimes under the 501 immigration regulations after the jail sentence is completed too. Given the human dregs that are enthusiastically exported to NZ by Oz under 501, wouldn’t be surprised if that option is seriously considered by Oz Immigration. Deported Oz criminals are just called “501’s” here by the way, everyone knows what you’re talking about.

Hopefully #anglophone can update us on the sentencing, will be interesting to see the outcome.
