Just when the news of Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool had sadly sunk in, now I need to digest Lewis Hamilton leaving Mercedes at the end of this year to go to Ferrari. Glad to know in both cases everything is not about money. What next?
When Mercedes changed setup a few years ago the cars were porpoising bad. Is LeClerc or Sainz leaving Ferrari? I hope Hamilton gets more competitive against Verstappen. Someone needs to. Checo is my favorite driver but he can’t beat his team mate.
I watch on 2 screens now: one for main race and one for cockpit view.
Streets of Chicago NASCAR race was sweet last year in the rain.
I try to watch IndyCar but those races are longish.
Hamilton signed a 2 year contract last summer for 24-25. Obviously there was an out clause, but to me it says he does not like what he sees of the new Mercedes. Leclerc just signed a contract extension at Ferrari, so Sainz is the odd man out. Seems a bit rough on him, but they have always favored Charles. The Ferrari does seem to have more pace in it over the last few years, but Mercedes comes through on race day with strategy and setup calls while Ferrari always seems to shoot themselves in the foot. Everyone felt he was nuts going to Merc for 2013 and look how that turned out.
@Switchcraft I recall I think in ‘22 Ferrari had engine failures and a fire.
The porpoising problem with Mercedes I got from watching Drive to Survive on Netflix.
I guess Hamilton will stay with Mercedes during 2024. They will still have George Russell perhaps in 2025. I admit I don’t keep up with the nitty gritty, but do try to watch all the races. I did not know about Hamilton’s switch until you mentioned it!
I kinda pull for Yuki Tsunoda to get in Top 10 each race. And when I started watching F1 a bit over 10 years ago because the Senna movie my favorite driver then was Fernando Alonso who did pretty damn good in 2023. I like him still but love Checo as he represents North America quite well. I don’t know if Sargeant is returning but he has some work to do if so.
