I told a customer today of how my father, my two older brothers, and my little sister are all in Ministry because he asked me about my life and after I told him that, he said "it's nice to meet another Christian around here" and then without saying I don't believe I said "I'm the only one in my family who hasn't followed in those footsteps" and he gave me a blank look and was no longer being super friendly after that. Imagine if I had said I was an atheist. What would he have said next.
The interaction ended well but for that moment I got a look of straight judgement from this man.
What are your thoughts? Have you experienced something similar?
I often get similar looks from my mother when I make a remark about her religion. I find it to be rather funny in this case (we have a really good relationship) but I can imagine how it would feel if I were to get this from a total stranger. Knowing myself I would probably immediately put on a smile that says "I know you hate me right now" but not go further than that. It's always funny to me how people react to people outside of their own religion, even if that religion preaches love to all.
I've gotten over the fact that I am surrounded by Xians alll over this city. In my living center and at work. Yesterday my boss blessed me and I told her to shut up! Lol. I send her funny atheists' memes. Some of them are offensive, but most of them she finds funny. I wonder if I am actually getting through to her? She doesn't go to church but on Easter and Xmas. IDK? I wonder if she will start using her common sense? Lol.
Oh wow! I saw your family open up for KMFDM back in the 90s.
