Here is an example of China phobia our media keeps pushing.
This is about the USA but Australia is in a similar situation regarding foreign ownership of land.
The headline screams "China" but read on and it says "Foreign entities own a total of 40 million acres of U.S. farmland and China has bought up nearly 347,000 acres, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)." That's not a huge percentage.
Do they mention who owns the rest? No. Likely culprits are;
Vatican City
Israel
UK
Who owns the rest? Bill Gates.

It is our own fault for allowing foreign ownership. Thai's don't, which is a pain in the arse for expats living there, but a law I wish Australia had.
