Thousands of Palestinians are held under military law by the IDF. Military law means no due process. Military law is also applied to children, Israel the only state that does this.
If this man was not part of the armed resistance, likely as he has been released after only a month, his treatment alone by the IDF will inspire others to do what do you think? Support Israel's defense of itself?
I hope he recovers fully.

Which is why people protest, it's a crime against humanity ie a crime against us all. The fact the group that suffer is Palestinians is really irrelevant. People would be protesting whoever it was.
