What was the last book you read that you enjoyed so much you couldn't put it down.
Billions and Billions by Carl Sagan. I miss him... :'(
"The 3rd Degree," by James Patterson. It was so good compared to the others that I read.
The Charlie Parker series. They are great. I am anxiously awaiting the new one. That's the most recent, but there are lots more. I'm kind of crazy about dystopian novels. I sat up all night reading Wayward pines. Also The Strain. It's a good thing I'm retired. When I was working, I could only do that when I had a day off.
The Likeness--Tana French
Paradox Bound--Peter Clines
Artemis--Andy Weir
It's been a while. I Will Fear no Evil, and Stranger in a Strange land, by Robert Heinlein.....
Excellent choices
Skin Game, latest in the Dresden Files series, by Jim Butcher.
Modern fantasy at its best.
An old one, but Catch 22 by Joseph Heller
It was love at first sight.
Carl Panzram a journal of murder by Henry Lesser. henry was a screw in the last prison Carl was in and the only man he ever trusted in any way. Carl was brought up by religious people who beat him mercilessly whether he was good or bad. He decided might was right and hated all humanity including himself. he never changed his beliefs ever even with the noose about to go around his neck. he was an evil diabolical man but I left the book feeling respect for him and kind of admiring him.
Gidget -- The Horse Formerly Known as Witch: A Story About Changing One's Destiny (Burton's Farm Series Book 2)..a memoir about a childhood horse.
"Lab Girl" by Hope Jahren, Ph.D. Geobiologist.
"Brilliant...Extraordinary...Delightfully, wickedly funny...Powerful and disarming." - The Washington Post.
"Clear, compelling and uncompromisingly honest... Hope Jahren is the voice that science has been waiting for." - The Nation
Invisible Monsters - Chuck Palahniuk
That must be new. It is nto yet available for download on the NLS BARD library.
Just to get a feel for the author, because i dont' believe I read anything from him before, i put "Pygmy" on my "to read" list.
@snytiger6 he’s probably one of my favorite authors. Invisible Monsters isn’t a new book and should be everywhere. I would check out your local book store. I still enjoy the search
@Freethinkerr Being partially blind, I download audio bersions of books from the NLS BARD system. Sometimes ehy do not record books too quickly, or even in order, which is frustrating when a book is a sequel to another one.
Thee is also the issue that if a book was first published outside of the U.S. tht the title in the U.S. can be different. That happened with some Sherlock Holmes stories and some Agatha Christie books as examples.
So, I've already downloaded "Pygmy" to my phone and will probably get to it in two or three days. If I liek that one, I'll put the rest by th tauthor in my "to read" download cue.
@snytiger6 is there a way you can get it through Audible.com ? I know they have a vast library of books. Or maybe I can try to send you the Audio file myself?
@Freethinkerr Thanks, but it will eventually be available through the library I normally use. In the mean time if I like "Pygny", I'll just put all the avaailbele books by the author into my "to read" list for future downloads.
This site recommends books faster than I can read them all. So,it won't be like I wot' have anytign to read.
