I was amazed when I first learned that the Aztecs had performed successful brain surgeries. There is also the record of how Cortez was impressed at lights they had that gave off no heat. That light technology was lost, as they burned almost all of the Aztecs books because they were decorated with drawings of serpents, which the priests thought meant they worshiped the devil, because of the story of Adan and Eve.
The English was a con system to win over the natives. And the Spanish was a cut throat system to the top. I have house in Belize, I'd most admired the Mayan ciliviztion.
