If you could build your own website for anything or any purpose, what would it be? Be as elaborate as you like.
I used to have history site..... wrote and published a variety of historical stuff that interests me. Suffered a server crash and lost most of the data. Never got back around to rebuilding it, but I would like to some day....
I got nuthin,
I build web sites when I really have to, I don't enjoy it and don't have anything I want to put out there.
I have a HTML page that links my phone and laptop that allows me to work across them
but really can not imagine anything at this point I would want a site for.
I put together a website. Essentially it covers everything I'm interested in, which is a pretty wide tent. It has recipes, a beatnik dictionary, information on how to restore WW2 German helmets, beer brewing instructions, shortwave spy stations, robot building, scam baiting, flying saucers, the rapture, the TV show Lost in Space-- and I even have a rocket to the moon project (no donations so far). Oh, and it promotes my Roku channel, Science Fiction and Beer. too.
I must be doing something right, as it has had over 16,000 visitors.
My recommendation: more subjects = more hits. Think of everything that interests you, Write it down. Then make a website that covers all of that.
The Science Fiction and Beer Rocket to the Moon Project: [scifibeer.com]
Something like google news in presentation, but with ratings for the news organizations with the same story. The ratings could include user ratings, number of years in service and possibly the size of the news agency. Information on the percentage of the articles released that lean one political side or the other. Commenting sections for those story "groupings" (same story different news organizations) to allow all sides a place to communicate about current issues. In order to keep such a dialog possible there would have to be very active moderators.
We need a better quality news experience, this last election process has left a bad taste for many Americans. We need news we can trust and or at least have some idea of its source and quality. We also need an online place to have both sides talk it out instead just standing amongst like minded people disparaging the other side as idiots and whackos.
What else would help?
I did build my own website - to promote my books and artwork. I've also built websites for clients, and as in-universe entities for the world my books are written in.
If I can learn how, I want to know. If I can use that to help others, I want to do it.
What do you need built? How Can I help?
