I just saw an orca in Newport Oregon! He swam up the river about 5 miles, then headed back to the ocean. They only show up a couple times a year.

And my sister wanted to to to the San Juan Islands (Near Seatttle) to go whale watching.... New Port is closer.

We hardly ever see orcas here, but we see lots of gray whales. Some live here year round at Depoe Bay, but the best time to see them is spring and fall. There is a company in Depoe Bay that takes you out on a zodiac, it's really fun even if you don't see whales.

He/she is so cute.

I have always been fascinated and terrified of them. I know that they have never attacked a human in the wild, but with the grin, I just do not trust them. 🙂

The only time I’ve seen an Orca was in Newport’s aquarium, it was Keiko. Glad this one was really free 😉

That's very impressive. Quite scary too if you're on a canoe or something. They're not called killer whales for nothing.
