I picked up this guy in Humble at a convenience store. He was going all the way across Houston. Along the way he asked if I had anything to eat and then started saying he was starving. His cousin paid for his trip, he said. He asked if I could get him some food. Being the nice guy I am I stopped at a store he said had good tacos and gave him four bucks. He grumbled that it might not be enough, ungrateful shit, but he got out and got some. He wanted a smoke so I gave him an almost full pack of cigs someone left in my car.
His story was that he was headed down to a community where he could do some yard work. He said his truck broke down and he couldn't do yard work and mowing so he was down on his luck.
I took him on to his destination after the store. On the way he "remembered" he had not said his morning prayers so he went into this elaborate prayer and was sure to pray for me too. Ha! Then he tells me how god is going to be good to me for helping him. Horse shit. I dropped him off and drove away. Ha. It takes all kinds!
