Find the root cause??

Wallow in self pity. I try not to let it consume me and am bound and determined to start volunteering regularly. I’m in MN and tend to isolate myself in the winter. I figure if I commit to volunteering somewhere, it’ll force me out of my apartment

@Infoguy211 thanks. I’m looking at either the library or doing clerical work at the animal shelter.

We all get into parts of our lives that just seem to be overwhelming. Have been there many many times. When you look back at your life you will see other times when things have been bad, and yet in between are better times. All the things that are going on now will pass, some sooner than others, but they will pass. Time does that, all things change with time. Of course we can do things to speed up or slow down the time it takes for things to pass. Best is to do what you can to speed up the passing of bad things. Solve some if you can, make plans for better times so when they come you will get more out of them. Other than that it is just breathe in, breathe out, left foot right foot and slog your way forward.
Much as per this song.

Great comment, great song, Salute.

Working on it, some things out of my control.

If you're going through hell,
Keep on going.
Don't slow down.
If you're scared, don't show it.
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there.

Change it.

Change.

Many aspects I have no control over, so change isn't going to happen.

When my life bottomed out, I realized the slate was wiped clean. Whatever direction I took was the right direction. So I built it back up, grieving as I went, and found an authentic me. This is one of the ways we are pretty incredible as humans.

Snap...you are so cool

@Amisja hahaha that made my day because...if I say 'snap' I sound like a middle aged mama pretending BUT when YOU say 'snap'... WOW I DO seem cool. 😉 lol hope you are having a great Sunday Amisja, my friend!

For real though: Make strides to improve the parts of your life that you don't like; nothing is ever as bleak as it seems.

And if dark thoughts creep in, find someone you trust to talk things out with (whether that be a trusted friend or a therapist); whenever I'm feeling "down" I talk to my bestie and even just venting to her seems to help.

You are fortunate to have a bestie.

Read a great book.

Watch a funny Netflix show

Talk a long early morning walk outside

Head for the beach

Take CBD oil, said to banish depression and even cure seizures and other problems

eat fish

take 5-htp, drink cho-wa tea, put a few drops of iodine in water, take magnesium, drink more water

When you're calm and happy, then you'll know what you want to do..

First, of all, I don't know if a "few drops of iodine" are poisonous or not, and uneducated as I am, I don't know what some of these other concoctions are either.

I have to admit though, I am living the 'half existence'- and if that isn't bad enough, doing it at half speed.

There are days that are up and there are days that are down- VERY DOWN- where I realize that survival, for the sake of survival, is not worth the effort.

I found your post interesting, and I agree with most of it, especially the first four entries. Want to be happy; find something to laugh at- even if it is Netflix. Walk in a quiet area, where the body is in motion, but all the cacophony of abuse and absurdity is removed too.

It isn't from lack of trying on my part. I know what to do------- now I would like some positive results. People who 'enjoy' moaning and groaning do not have my empathy. Too lazy to get off their asses! They have made their choices.

By contrast, some people who have serious conditions (I wish I had a magic wand and could fix their injuries) are living every day as if it was a joyous day and are happy to be alive. I truly admire such people.

@Diogenes

1.You can google the closest place to buy CBD oil..it's available in most health food stores but some places states restrict selling it, since it's derived from cannabis, but without THC..the "high" part.

2.You can buy a bottle of 5-htp at WalMart, at the health food and vitamin area..it is an amino acid precursor of serotonin, with anti-depressant and anti-anxiety benefits.

  1. You can buy a bottle of magnesium capsules at the same place.

4.Cho-wa tea is a formula of Japanese mushrooms and herbs used by the Tiger Shogun to stay young and have children into their hundreds. It boosts the immune system as well as calming anxiety, depression and panic attacks. I take it every day.

5.A few drops of food grade iodine in water will calm you down, and also relieve paranoia from taking too much cannabis. I take it every day.

6.Drink a lot of water. For some reason, this also relieves depression, since our brains are 85% water.

@Diogenes Half-existance pretty much hits it on the head.

@nvrnuff Any one of these remedies will help. The more of these solutions you try, the better. I do all of them except the CBD oil since I can't get it here, but I already take cannabis to treat cancer.

@birdingnut Again- there is a much simpler 'agenda', use food, that Nature endowed us with, and heal whatever ails us.

Next- "try, try and try again"! Ya, sure; even the village idiot should know when it is time to quit.

Thanks, for the non-informational, information.

I change it.

That is assuming you have options available.

There are always options.

You talk to us on this site. Tell us what is going wrong in your life and we will try and give you support.

Thanks, but publicly airing my difficulties is something I just can not do.

1

Talk to a friend. They may not be able to actually fix anything or offer useful advice, but just getting some frustration out can be helpful.

If a lack of friends is one of the problems, that's what us internet people are for! Some of my best people may as well only exist on the internet

Thanks, that is one of the problems. Though I find internet friendship has value, it's just not fulfilling as someone to go out to eat with, or a ball game, or shoot some pool with, etc.

@nvrnuff I hear you. I've worked night shift for around 15 years, through various jobs. Some of them had schedules where it was damn near impossible to get together in person with anyone. My cat helped with the loneliness, but you're right that it's nice to have humans around now and then.

I branched out a bit and started doing things with coworkers outside of work and lucked out with an invite to a hobby group that eventually lead to my current core group of local pals. I still think about taking a night class in something that sounds interesting just to get out of the house and meet people. And the whole "looking for friends" thing on dating sites might lead to something (though I've never had any luck on dating sites for any purpose)

@happyhiker1 My political and religious views have made me a complete outcast here.

compost?
ie make what you can of it.
hopefully good times will come again.

5

Breathe in and out and carry on. Life doesn't stay shit, you can move on. Much love xx

when you have lemons you make lemonade

@Bierbasstard indeed

The lemons have rotted.

@Stacey48 Show me how to throw mush.

@Stacey48 Lol, got one handy?
