Some places just don't deserve to remain in business. My mom requires long term care for the treatment of dementia. So I called there today to wish my mom a happy mothers day. Only to find out she had been sent to the hospital a few days earlier. Yet this place has decided not to call me to let me know. So I finally locate her and speak with the nurse. My mom came in with such a significant pressure wound that a plastic surgeon had to assist with its treatment. This is just one of many issues I've had with this place. But nothing nearly as serious as this. But my mom isnt going back there again. And I have a few lawyers to speak with as well.
I am so sorry your mom had to go thru this. Unfortunately there are alot of bad places who do not treat their residents the way they should be treated.
Seek an Elder Law specialist with trial experience. You will be doing it not just for your mom, but also for other residents subject to the same neglect.
And when you take into consideration how expensive even the worst places are it makes you want to wrench
Gracious! Hope you get her in a better place, and win a neglect lawsuit as well, while you're at it.
When we had to put my dad into a nursing home for a few days when nobody was available to help lift him from his wheelchair, when I went to get him, he was eating cake, and his blood sugar was through the roof.
We had to work frantically to normalize him, and from then on, we privately hired a part time worker to come in daily, to help out.
Don't you have elder abuse legislation over there? And inspectors routinely running licensing compliance checks?
You should bring that to the attention of you state representative, long term treatment centers are regulated by state law as to how many staff on duty and other care methods. Especially with the Repubs in power it won't get any better soon.
I am sorry to hear this. I had to place my mom in a nursing home when she had dementia; it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. It is terrible and unacceptable that you weren't notified when your mom fell ill. I wish you the best of luck at finding a facility where you are both treated better.
That's horrible! I hope your lawyers are aggressive and can scare the agency enough to prevent such treatment of other residents. I ope they can get you enough of a financial settlement to allow you to find better care for your mother. Keep us posted.
my sympathies, similar experience with my Dad, all the best
