Are lotteries rigged?
A man in Australia has won the lottery TWICE in a week prompting accusations of fixing.
And the article linked below focuses on corrupt lottery employee Eddie Tipton, who used computer programmes to secure wins.
The crazy thing is that if he had done it once, under his brother's name, in another state and stopped there....he probably would have gotten away with it. But, for people this greedy....a little extra will never be enough. They will always need more...and more...and more....
Statistically unlikely events are bound to happen at some point. How is someone going to be smart enough to rig a lottery, but dumb enough to do it twice in a week?
They've been rigged before, probably will be again. You got lots of money involved, and people in general will cheat to get it. I recall in Pennsylvania a few years back they caught someone injecting the ping pong balls they use to select the numbers, making it more likely some would rise up above the others. I prefer betting on games of skill.
Hey I remember that PA scandal too!
@SACatWalker yeah deflate- gate
There is nothing made by humankind that can’t be exploited or corrupted. That said, I reckon most state lotteries (at least in the Western world) are on the level. But everything is prey to those who are desperate to seek selfish or greedy advantage. It’s the way of things that they’re normally only ever caught after the event, if at all.
