There are a few stray dog Australians, like me, on this site.
I tend to think that Australia and New Zealand are like Canada - we punch above our weight when it comes to musical output.
Thoughts/observations about Australian/NZ bands and/or songs?
I'm a Brisbane boy - it has to be The Go Betweens:
Bee Gees, Men At Work, INXS, LRB, and more, Australia has produced some great pop music. One question, what the fuck is a vegamite sandwich? Apologies if l spelled it wrong. I don't speak Australian. ?
A Vegemite sandwich is two pieces of bread, smeared with Vegemite, which is a uniquely Australian product. Made from yeast extract and very salty. Vegemite and avocado on toast is an excellent hangover cure, I have found.
@Palindromeman Thank you very much.
?
@Sticks48, @Palindromeman Its not that unique. Its Marmite but not as stong
@273kelvin The Bee Gees grew up in Redcliffe in the Australian state Queensland. Which is where I grew up. So I get naming rights!
@Palindromeman But born in IOM then lived in Manchester
@Sticks48 I am finding this thread hilarious. I mean, fuck me sideways, Vegemite is just a something you put on bread/toast.
Although, that said - it is now certified halal, which makes the white supreme mob lose their shit. Which is good.
You guys do have lots of good ones. When I was younger the Bee Gees appealed to me, Little River Bank always one of my faves, Air Supply and ONJ when I was a teeny bopper, Savage Garden.
AC/DC never quite worked for me. I know I've missed a few
air supply come into mind and bono too i think
Bono ??!! Well, Australia/N. Zealand can have him if they want ???
@SimonCyrene Make Bono History!
Did you know the guitarist from Air Supply was also in The Divinyls?
@Palindromeman i can't afford the hitman!?
