And yet we know objectively that mental illness exist and can agree on those that are mentally ill.

Morality is a set of shared values that allow people to cooperate. Since cooperation is so advantageous, the "best" morality is the one that can get the most people to cooperate.

Moral behavior is behavior that I like. Behavior that I dislike is immoral. It’s just that simple. If there were some sort of universal standards we’d have no wars.

1

Morality is just a matter or personal perspective.

Science and religion are seperate axis.

I do not see science as moral or immoral but for its application.

2

I see the ultimate morality as being about pragmatics. It is about what works and what keeps things going forward. It is more about reason, evidence and less about emotion.

there so many f*ng know it all scientists on this site, I am surprised that no one has won the fuNG Noble prize yet

if you just posted this to get a response, then you have succeeded ,and in a way your statement is correct, Science does not reject morality.,neither does it acknowledge morality, it is impartial to either statement. It is a pointless statement either way,

I posted it because I found it thought provoking. As you can tell from some of my comments, I do not agree entirely with it. You seem to want to assign ulterior motive to my post. Seems you have a problem.

@bobhoff59 no, just saying that science is impartial,

Science isn't just something that happens in a test tube or a lab. The scientific study of human behavior is a scientific endeavor and leads to scientific truths. If a certain kind of morality, say empathetic, leads to evolutionary sucess that is a scientific truth just like E=MC×C. (Sorry couldn't figure out how to get the '2' right for squared. )

try this, a²

Unfortunately, Linus Pauling may not be the best poster child of unbiased science.

Why do you say that?

@Ignostic_Skeptic what is a vitamin C nut?

@bobhoff59 here is a good summery:
The Bottom Line
Although Pauling's megavitamin claims lacked the evidence needed for acceptance by the scientific community, they have been accepted by large numbers of people who lack the scientific expertise to evaluate them. Thanks largely to Pauling's prestige, annual vitamin C sales in the United States have been in the hundreds of millions of dollars for many years. Pauling also played a role in the health food industry's successful campaign to weaken FDA consumer protections laws. The Linus Pauling Institute that bears his name has evolved into a respectable organization. But Pauling's irrational advice about supplements continues to lead people astray.

there are many more references but it comes down to the same thing.

The price of human urine has not cease to increase since LP has convinced the masses that vitamin supplementation is a cure all.

@PraiseXenu the guy won 2 nobel prizes in 2 different field chemistry and physics, brillant! But, he also went down the path of quackery. Vitamin C is the most abundant vitamin there is. If you ate only McD all your life you would still have enough vit C in your diet but get sick on missing so many other nutrients.
At one point, LP decided to believe that Vit C. was a cure all while ignoring all other evidence to the contrary THAT disqualified him as a scientist.
Yes many scientist have made mistakes in the past but changed their mind or research by listening at evidence that revealed their mistakes or shortcomings. Any of them, can wear the honour of science's merit.

@Ignostic_Skeptic do we know he wasn't right?

@bobhoff59 LP was a over zealous Vit C advocate. It was reported that he consumed several grams per day. I give you this reference for Vit C from the Linus Pauline Institute. You will see that even they admit that Vit C is not a cure all particularly against cancer. Also note the recommended daily intake. (Study hard there will be a quiz).
