LOL... This is especially funny because William Shatner wasn't all hat gay friendly when the original series was shot. To this day there is a bit of tension between Shatner and George Takei, although Shatner has (i am told) mostly got over his homophobia.

True! Of course, true Star Trek fans will tell you that he never actually said "beam me up Scotty" in any episode.

@Duke Not in that order anyway. I think he did say "Scotty, beam me up"

So I was in the Navy for 5 years and like Star Trek the Navy will denote job specialties with colored outfits when on a carrier....

Imagine my chagrin with I realized I was a red shirt..

On the plus side like Scotty I also survived 5 years as a red shirt.
