Want to Save the Bees? Plant These
Great! Add to that Mexican Heather, Lantana and Butterfly Bush.
(I have to keep my distance from Cilantro. It disgusts me! ...but then, I am not a honey bee.)
I have a row of Ceanothus (California Lilac) [laspilitas.com]. Right now it is a bee factory. We have docile yellow Jackets, Bumble Bees, Mason Bees and even honey bees.
I have lavender looking good, and many other plants to get into the ground before they die.
Lavender is a great perennial and I also have lots. However, it is the one herb that a lot of people are allergic to.
@JackPedigo I have tons of seasonal allergies, in fact have been tested. Lavender is not one of them The Nebraska state flower is one of my allergens. Goldenrod, what were the forebears thinking?
If you’re going to seed bomb an area, you need to use native plants’ seeds. I think that is often overlooked.
The bees are dying because of pesticides. Planting these flowers won't make much difference
Having pesticide free flowers helps a little.
But they are not dying everywhere. There are still lots of places they still thrive.
@JackPedigo numbers have decreased almost everywhere.
