Does intelligence direct emotions away from faith based belief systems? Where reasoning and analysing eventually direct your emotions and reinforce your compassion for kindness instead of reliance of faith in religion, but towards humanitarian facets rather than reliance on God for good?
I think it is intelligence that sets humans apart from the rest of the animals.
Animals behave with their emotions and instincts. We have emotions and instincts too, of course, but we also have intelligence which can overrule our emotions.
So, I think emotions are not "directed" by intellect but supercedes them.
Animals are controlled by their emotions and instincts. Humans are not.
You are either faith-based or evidence-based. You can emote with either.
I doubt it. The 'lesser' species have no gods. That is a man-made construct to help pass information and teach some basic rules to children that eventually grew into what presently exists. The quote that 'Religion is born of ignorance and dies with intelligence' is a good one -- but I don't think it is completely accruate.
I believe so. But some religious folks will tell you 'no' and if you believe otherwise, you will burn in a pit of fire for all eternity because God loves you.
