I could really use some help with this. Fact about me. I smoke weed. My employer did not initially drug test me when I got my job. I've just been offered a new position with slightly higher pay but that requires I take a drug test. I've smoked very recently and would be expected to take this drug test on Monday. I've already expressed strong interest in the position before I knew that a drug test would be required, but I don't think it's too late to withdraw my interest. I could take a detox and possibly pass it, but I would also be risking failing the test and losing my job completely. I need some input. Help!
Well, I turned down thevery job and 2 others did also, for the same reason. Lol. Thanks for the advice.
Do they have a Miller Lite test? Also tell you when to go to bed, what shows to watch? Booze causes 50x more problems and you got people oding left and right from opioids. Reefer is catnip for people. Its a gateway drug to some nutter butters, maybe some smart food. Im 100% sure that smoking a joint would take the stick out of America's ass.
I don't suppose there are MM cards in Wisconsin?
I'm not a pot person but did try some of my late dh's "pate" that he was afraid of for fear it was too strong, he preferred the oil. I found out soon after my throat starting itching I'm allergic but at the same time it was a wonderful muscle relaxer.
I have noticed people who are high octane types gravitate to marijuana. I'm already chill so never felt the need but dang did I sleep like a baby afterward between that and the benadryl.
Admittedly have been cutting the crud out of my hair in case it ever becomes an issue. Late dh's work did not mess with that stuff and good people lost their jobs over it. In the middle of his chemo treatment he was scared to use it thinking he would return to work, but it helped him so much to relax and boost appetite. Unfortunately his fear of having a hair test on return never happened.
Good luck with whatever you decide. Curious how it all turns out and hope you update.
Pass... for the time being. What are the chances you could get a medical Rx, apply again in a week, month, whatever? I’m out of the “loop” so to speak... feel for ya.
Just read some other comments... wow... sounds like a bunch of christian fundamentalists. Wonder where they their scientific data was found... I haven’t used since the mid 80’s haven’t missed it, but thinkinin about it lately.
I know a few (lots) of weekend users, you’d be surprised... political, legal, medical, law enforcement... doesn’t effect job performance... oh, it might make some of them a tad liberal.
Someone who smokes like “Cheech & Chong” isn’t what I’m using an example.
Three martini lunch or breakfast comes to mind... guess that doesn’t count.
Go buy fake urine from a head shop, unless they strip search you with the test it will help you pass a drug test. Going clean of weed usually means being clean for 3 months before it is fully out of your system.
My daughter-in-law always failed a piss test even-though she has never done drugs. She would inform potential employers that, and when the test fails they do a blood test. Stating that you have problems with piss tests may give you time to get it out of your system.
Another way is to say that you take CBD for cholesterol and hope that takes care of the issue. This one is iffy, but it may be worth a shot.
If they do a hair test it won't work. The last company I worked for cuts your hair to get a years growth-really detailed and weird. I was a sales manager with a company car-if you had an accident-which I did they do it again. On the other hand if you work for a company and use your own car they may not do it. I smoke too.
Do you know they are testing for weed? Many companies don't because they realized they're losing highly qualified people, especially if you live near a state where weed is legal. This probably doesn't help now, but good luck to you.
Hearing this kind of crap, disgusts me, you clearly qualify for the job and are their choice for it,s o obviously there is nothing to suggest you have a drug problem that effect your on the job performance. This is so, wrong. Do what you need to beat the test; detox, water and niacin and contest the result if it is positive. If you back out it is probable that you will be suspect anyway and could lose your job anyway.
I don't smoke much weed but, if and when I do I am so, glad I am self employed.
@ KevinJohnston evidence, please. I know a lot of scientists, engineers, senior managers, police commanders, lawyers, judges, legislators, etc. that use pot at least 10 times a month, they all seem to have no problems with either of the problems you mentioned. Some are the top of their professions and are consider to be the bights minds in the field.
I am not a regular pot user, I don't have any problems with dealing with stress but, I suspect and have been told by some of them that it is the reason they use it occasionally to relax.
man, wtf.. id make sure they arent trying some middle management political crap trying to squeeze you out. Id do the water thing, and if it comes up green, dispute it, deny everything, say that thier lab messed up, or..
totally don't do what this friend of mine did, and find someone who doesnt smoke, and have them piss in a portable booze flask from 7-11, and tape that to the inside of your thigh, because that would never work. it totally would never hold the whiz at the right body temp, just don't make sure your squeeze your thighs together if you don't do this.
I'm our HR department though I mainly do payroll and accounting. Legally, in the US no one can fire you for a single failed drug test. It may vary by state, but they have to offer you counseling that you have to pay for to quit or in a less likely scenario, won't care about weed. However, ignorance runs rampant in the country and it really depends on the person/people you'd have to discuss it with in management so you might be best to back out and keep your employment file as clean as possible.
Something to consider is this: Depending on where you work, the industry and state and local laws, you may test positive but you might not "Fail" the test. if the employer's criteria does not include cannabis or has a high threshold for casual use you might not be flagged.
But, if they test for it, they'll find it. Company culture plays a role, too. If your CEO and President were party people in college they may have a lenient view of the screening and look for hard drugs like opiates, Methamphetamine, ecstasy and cocaine.
Unfortunately, I don't think Sam Walton was.
It might really depends on what state you’re living in. Employers who are in weed friendly states might be more lenient with their employees. What drugs are they testing for?
It's Wisconsin. This is a very conservative state. I would bet my bottom dollar they will test for THC
Drink five quarts of water the night before pee a couple of times you will pee drinking water. Drink something dark before.
I was thinking of drinking a shit ton of water and buying a detox if I decided to go for it. I hear they work if you get the right ones.
Would it look suspicious to withdraw now? That is to say, you were fully interested until the drug test came up? Could they decide to test you anyway, even if you don't take the new position?
I agree with the others though - I would not risk losing your job altogether.
I haven't smoke for 20 years. I probably would be doing it again, especially considering it is legal to do so in many states now, but my job requires random DOT drug testing so it is out of the question for me.
It could possibly be seen as suspicious but I'm sure I could provide reason enough to stay if it comes down to it.
you enjoy a smoke so is the slightly higher pay worth it anyway?
I like the people in the crew I work with now. Some are even asking me to stay.
If I took the job I would be working with all new people
