Lately I have been getting some harsh responses to thoughts I have had on some topics in different rooms. MY way of expressing them has given people the idea that I am attacking or instigating. These are not and never have been my intention. This is promoted as a place of free thinking and expression if I understand it correctly. If that is true, I take that to mean that I am allowed...encouraged even, to share my thoughts, be they controversial or not, whether they agree with other opinions or not, as long as they do not directly relate to other members here. To the best of my knowledge and ability, I have done that. I am no expert on any subject, I do not claim to have all, or even any answers. I do not push any agenda. I am a "Live an let live" kind of person. I ask some edgy questions sometimes, because I am merely curious as to how people think about some things or see them.
So, if I have offended you, or you feel I have singled you out, or attacked you, I sincerely apologize to you. Perhaps if, rather than insinuating I am an asshole, you might share what it is I said or how I said it that brought on your reaction, there could be some better understanding.
As long as it is the ideas that are being questioned, I have no problem with people asking questions or challenging my ideas.
The written word can often be misconstrued as we can't pick up the non-verbal communication that most of us rely on to get a feel for what is being said.
I've had some fairly robust discussions with others on here, but have so far been fortunate that it has been the ideas that have been discussed and things have not got personal. (I don't know if I've been blocked though!).
Keep questioning - it's the only way we learn.
I'm pretty much the same buy have a great game I count the blocks 5 so far lol
Not being one of those people that you have offended (at least if you did I can't remember it) I can't really address that issue. However, I think that in a digital world, there are times when text does not translate as well as a face to face interaction, which would be accompanied by body language and more wriggle room for explanation. Just a thought. Having said that, there is always going to be someone who is upset at something done by someone.
The downside of a public forum on the internet is that many people with many different opinions, moods, and backgrounds are able to respond. This can result in responses that are less than favorable - or friendly even . You'll never please everyone, no matter what you say - or how you say it.
I do not remember a response on your part that bothered me. What I will say, is sometimes when I am in some specific mind frame, I take things oddly! Sometimes, I write things, that are not ‘spot on,’ ‘cause my mind just responded from somewhere else! My emotions effect what I write, so I must be prepared to get some (adverse) feedback! Which does hurt sometimes...especially if I am needing approval!
Shake it off...move forward. It's the Internet. Someone, somewhere is going to get offended.
