I think tRump may be a very loud wake up call to the rational people who actually vote. Whether or not there are enough of us is the problem.

I agree campaign reform is sorely needed but there are other avenues, all dealing with cutting funding for the NRA through public concerns. Also, some politicians will see the writing on the wall and quite supporting this vile organization. Unfortunately, I see campaign finance reform is high hanging fruit.

I believe this is largely true, however I think the solution is more complex.
I have been lobbying politicians for years, a few wins, mostly I get "nice" words and no action. The reason is that they do not share my goals. I now realise I have been working to change their minds, go against what they want, rather than educate them. So in reality I am simply fighting them, no matter how accepting they pretend to be. The only solution for me is to ignore the parties that get into power all the time, and only support new parties aligned with my beliefs.
Political parties invariably, if understandably, have difficulty in adapting themselves to conditions other than those which gave them birth.

Yes, we've been having the same arguments about gun control for at least the last half century. The worse things get, the more the NRA just tells everyone to buy more guns to defend themselves.

The whole system needs changed.You can "Buy" the Presidency if you have the money behind a campain.Limits need to be set that spending is equal & polices not slanging matches between candidates matter.
