It's an interesting idea, nicely put, but my view is that it doesn't have to be dread. It can also be surprise and fascination.

Some people ask the question WHY? and others don't.

Naw it isn't, it's the first part of a question, as in "Angst you's goin' to the store?"

What is dread is confronting the reality our own death,

Maybe a symptom of living in the past instead of the here and now.
