Does anybody ever wish there was a god? Not necessarily the Christian god either. But knowing something was there. How would that impact you?
I think the reason why we have religion is two fold. One, we are afraid of death, not so much dying itself but death causes us to evaluate what the point of existence is. Knowing there is "something out there" somehow adds meaning to our struggles (though I disagree.) Second, we see all the injustice in the world. The evil are seldom punished, in fact often they flourish while the decent folks remain poor and powerless. So we wish there is some justice after we are dead, since there appears to be none on earth. Nonetheless, this is not my position. I grew up without religion and perfectly happy with not having a god to watch over me.
If I found out that a god exists, I would be really angry!
He/She knew my wife was going to die and did nothing to prevent it. He/She allows innocent children to die horrible, painful deaths in earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.
I prefer no god, but I have wished that I could believe in one.
Personally no, because by any traditional definition of a "God" would be a tyrannical monster, the whole concept is indecent.
