More importantly, the incident resulted in a corporation ceasing to make contributions to the NRA and any politicians who supported it.
This is what is needed - because it is cash, not ideals, that has the greatest influence on politics.

Another embarrassment and loss of funding for the NRA. Now maybe they are starting to know what it feels like to be in the defense (of a position that is indefensible).
