Just got back from a weekend away at a music festival, anyone else like going to music festivals?
Yes, mostly folk festivals where you camp for 2 - 3 nights. Love 'em and look forward to them. Burning Man, which isn't a festival, is high on my bucket list.
It's a great way to unplug from the matrix
Where did you go?
@FrayedBear [strummercampfestival.com] I volunteer as a steward I'm at this one in July which is probably more up your street [stainsbyfestival.org.uk]
@psycheworks I'll try to remember it the next time I'm in the UK at the right time of year. Sounds great! Free Camping!
@AstralSmoke depending on where you're planning on going in the UK I can certainly make some recommendations for good smaller festivals
@psycheworks I know one guy I could drink a couple of pints with. Thanks!
@psycheworks thanks for that. The names are totally unknown to me other than Vin Garbutt and Enda Kenny at Stainsby. Volunteering is a great way of attending - I used to volunteer at our nationals until I fell out with its direction and a few snowflakes.
Not sure I'll be getting to any this year. I hope you had a fab time though.
I did have a fab time thank you it's one of my favorite festivals, everyone knows each other, stewards crew artistes and audience [strummercampfestival.com] I volunteer so it's free to get in
@psycheworks Ah, one of my FB buddies just got back from there too,, and she had a ball by the looks of her posts. Glad to hear you had such a great time too.
Hell... No...
Well, turning up for a day — yes. Camping — hell no. I tried that just once with a cheapo tent that may as well have been a polythene bag (in scorching heat) and managed to pitch it between a group of deeply unhappy couples who got wrecked and had a scary, violent mass argument til 2 in the morning, and a bunch of lads with a guitar who sung Wonderwall and Traffic over and over and BLOODY OVER until dawn. ?
Sleep was not got.
Went home the next afternoon and blew out the whole of day 3.
Oh no, that's not good. I do them in a van converted into a motorhome no tents for me that's finished with the girl guides The only one I was really horrified with was Glastonbury the litter and the prats have to be seen to be believed luckily I was in a private field for performers and staff with it's own bar, toilets, wood fired sauna and wood burning stove area complete with large sofas...what's not to like
Just back from Bearded theory myself
@273kelvin Not been there for a few years since the management shit on a lot of performers and friends of mine providing stages etc they didn't get paid. Did enjoy it though when hubby was booked and we hooked up with Urban Voodoo machine and ended up going to London to stay with them, he played at their venue the Gypsy Hotel. They played at the festival I was at this weekend it was good to catch up with them again.
@psycheworks What festival was that?
@273kelvin bearded theory was what I was talking about in my reply to you. Strummercamp was the festival I went to this weekend just gone
